Mangalore Girl

I was standing in Vashi, Bombay Bus Stop alone. It was too hot and sunny. 2 guys were discussing about a girl who was alone at the other corner of the bus stop. I moved a bit to see the girl they are talking about. She was cute, slim and tall. I thought to give my luck a try, as no one knew me there.

I went to that girl and asked was she waiting for Bangalore bus. She said yes. We continued to talk. We talked about 15-20 minutes. Then came our bus to Bangalore. We both went to the bus. But the number of the bus was not the one I got in SMS. I thought as the bus number changed once, it could happen again. I went to the conductor and showed my ticket. He said it was the bus to Mangalore and my bus was coming behind this bus. Then I realised she heard Mangalore when I said Bangalore.

She and I had to separate now. All my dreams of the bus trip were badly shattered. I wanted to talk to the girl and can see the similar restlessness in her eyes too. I don't know how the short discussion happened next, I asked or she, but she asked for my name and number. I gave my company Hoopos card. But I told her do not call me instantly. It will sound desperate from her side. Also that shows I am not desperate, plus some attitude. My actual reason was I wanted to stay connected to few people by SMS after catching the bus. I asked her to call on Sunday 4PM. This piece of shit was because the closer around this time she calls, the more interest she shows from her side. When I asked her name, she said she will call and tell. Then she left.

Till saturday night, I remembered that she will be calling the next day. But I forgot the time I told her. I slept late and got up at 2PM. I totally forgot about her call. Chicken was made at my home and I ate enough. At around 3:50PM, I went to loo. When I was in loo, she called. Then it struck me all of sudden that she was going to call. But I couldn't pick call in loo. So I disconnected it and SMSed to that number that I will call in 10 minutes.

After 10 minutes, I saw that the number was a landline number and SMS wasn't sent. Then I called back to the number, but a man, with bad Hindi accent picked up. I said, "Hello Sir, this is Deepak from Bangalore. Is Rahul at home?". As I did not even know her name, I could not ask him to give the phone to his daughter directly and I mentioned my name so that if he repeats it, she might know I called and that too from Bangalore. But the plan failed, he said, "Sorry, wrong number". I asked, "Is this number of Hubli?". Just to make sure the call was the same girl's who I met. He said, "No, this is Mangalore's number" and disconnected. I called the next day too. Same thing but with her mom.

My next plan was to ask my friend Amrita call her number and ask his dad or mom to give phone to her daughter in Kannada. Story of bus stop, if needed, will remain same, but Deepak will be replaced by Deepika.

Plan B. I will get Mangalore landline directory and search the number for the address. Then I will go to Mangalore on my bike, stay around her house and will meet her when possible. But reverse searching from number is hell of a big job, when I don't even know name or surname. Only thing I know is her number and she lives in Mangalore or may be not. She might have got down before Mangalore. WTF.

When god was distributing luck, I was in loo.
